Verse of the Day: June 7, 2013

praise and worship god

Today’s Work:

Get into the habit of praising and worshiping God in advance. It is not about your emotions. It is about your devotion to God. Think of how good He is to you – before you know it, you will start praising.  Turn any place or time into praise. U will be glad you did.

[Psalm 34:1-3]  “I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul shall make its boast in the Lord; the humble shall hear of it and be glad. Oh, magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt His name together.”

What does it mean to praise the Lord?

Basically everyone understands what praise is even if they can’t define it verbally. It’s a pretty simple concept. In terms of one person praising another, praise is recognition and is expressed in actions and in words. It is a focusing of one’s attention upon someone else’s finer points and expressing that attention through words of acknowledgement and encouragement, possibly accompanied by a pat on the back or a reward of some kind. Praise provides a positive environment in which intimacy may grow.

So why is it that when we talk about praising God, this simple concept suddenly becomes very complicated? Praising God works pretty much the same way as praising any other person. As we turn our attention towards God, we begin to recognize Him for who He is and what He has done for us. We then express that recognition by the words of our mouths, by our attitude of gratitude and thanskgiving, and by our desire to please Him through obedience to His word, which is the acknowledgement, encouragement and rewards part. It is truly that simple in how it works. And, like everything else we do, it is a choice.

As we turn our attention to the Lord in truth and sincerity of heart, the fruit of praising God reaches into eternity, bringing us undreamed of rewards that “eye has not seen, nor ear heard, that which God has prepared for those that love Him.”
